Lemonella is a Berlin based DJ, producer and poet from South Africa. Growing up in a land of staggering contrasts shaped her eclectic taste and a sensitivity for music as a vessel for storytelling and therapeutic exploration.

As a teenager she was influenced by early hip hop, her father’s record collection and the poets of the sixties counterculture, shaping her first mixtapes.

At fifteen she was introduced to the electronic underground - instantly hooked on the freedom of the dance floor and its power to connect and unify beyond societal hierarchies. She began djing in 2014, and held an example for other women around her to do the same.

Lemonella’s creative language is diverse yet distinctive, creating a transportive experiences that respond intuitively to each environment.  Not defined by genre, her sets reflect an ever-evolving dance floor sound carried over playful, hypnotic, ethereal and rolling grooves. She is seasoned in creating both dreamy ambient days and thumping sweaty nights, and has a knack for elegantly balancing polarities of lightness with depth, the minimal with the more cinematic.

Her first EP ‘garden of delight’ is a poetic mediation on nature, followed the ‘plant poetry’ and ‘love & leisure airwaves’ radio show. Her latest single ‘Freedom Arrived’ released on Music Lovers Club, is an uplifting dub and house inspired track.

Lemonella has toured clubs and festivals around Europe, the Americas and South Africa, including Frankhan Selectist (Istanbul) Wilderburg (NL) Giegling x MBR (São Paulo) Fusion Festival (DE), Watergate, Renante, Kater (BER), Garbicz (PL) dord du l’eau (CH), Château Perche (FR), Labyrintho (CR) Rùmu (PT) & Wolfkop Weekender (CT).
